Yearbook Digitizing Project Progress

As each of the digitized Monticello volumes becomes a part of the TJHS HPS archival library, we will highlight the year in the table below. A gray background to a year indicates that the class donated $100 or more toward having their book digitized. Check back to see when your yearbooks become a part of the preserved history of Jefferson.

15 Days This Summer

August 21, 2013: In the heat of June, July, and August, for 15 days, they labored in the library. TJHS HPS volunteered to pack and box the trophies and archives located in the library; the principal, Mr. Orlando Vera, accepted.

Dana Ward, Anna Catalani, Frank WardFoundation work under the Administration offices and library required that most everything be moved out of these areas. A statistical picture of what went on was that 3 TJHS HPS Board members, 3 TJHS HPS Advisory Board members, and 5 other volunteers worked a combined 186 hours packing 39 boxes of archives material and 30-plus boxes of trohpies to be moved into storage during the foundation work. On board were Anna Campos, Anna Catalani, Chris Mendiola, Dana Ward, David Sims, Patsy Skeels, Sylvia Aguilar, Becky Alvarez, Bubba McClellan, Frank Ward, Lindy Chavez, and Roger Allen.

TJHS HPS thanks all of you for your time and effort in yet another showing to "Support the Mission" and work for the preservation of all things Jefferson.

Yearbook Digitizing Project Update

August 10, 2013: The first 18 yearbooks to become officially accepted into this TJHS HPS archiving project are 1960-1977. "It's very gratifying to see a major effort in preserving the history of Thomas Jefferson High School come to fruition," stated Don Moore, TJHS HPS board member. "What better to have as our first major act of archival preservation than the portraits, action photos, and descriptions of the activities of the Jefferson student body, teachers, and administrators."

The final deliverables of this project are (1) a high-resolution TIF image scan of each page, including covers, ads, etc. and (2) a searchable PDF file of each yearbook with viewing quality up to 1600% magnification. These deliverables will be permanently stored in the Jefferson Library's vault.

Update to the Update

August 21, 2013: 60+ CDs containing the first set of 18 books have been delivered to TJHS HPS. The next 18 books are being processed as of August 18th.
